Winter In the West Coast of Scotland

Glenfinnan

Its been a busy last few weeks.

Post new years I was meeting old friends of my boyfriend and we went on a walk in Glenfinnan and out to the pub for a nights drink. We had a bender on the show vikings, resulting in me braiding as much of my hair as I could. And now I'm on a solid week of work, though today involved a heavy bout of tobogganing.

A week later it snowed. Properly snowed. I come from the land of snow, I was born at winter's first breath. It brings beauty to the world and if you know how to behave around winter, its not so dangerous.

I found the UK to be poorly equipped for handling snow, driving in snow and sometimes even walking. The mountaineers have it right, but beyond them, there is no understanding of how to brace for cold weather. Old houses remain un-insulated, and there is a great bemoaning of heating costs while said heating floats through the walls and window. I shivered more here than I ever did in minus 30 degree weather back home.

Sometimes I tend towards thin clothes though. Compromising warmth for style I suppose. Comes with trying to pack light I think.

I've added two plants to my roses for company, one tall ferny thing, that was too sad to take a picture of and the other is the cutting from an umbrella tree. Supposedly you can transplant them by cuttings. I've never done this before and I feel its rather advanced.
